Celebrating the life of

Scott B. Hoover

Passed away on January 18, 2024

Scott B. Hoover

Scott Burnett Hoover-- On September 10, 1960 the sunshine of our lives was born. He was so many things in his life besides being a son, a brother, an uncle, and a cousin, he was special.  He was a Special Olympian, winning over 12 gold and silver medals.  He was an avid bowler, basketball player, and a comedian.  His best friends were Eric, Leon, Ronald, and Eric and especially Ms. Mary Pringle, the best House Mother they ever had.

Unfortunately, when Ms. Mary left the group home was never the same.  Under the care of Gateway, Scott was seriously and mysteriously hurt which started a downward spiral.

Up until that point Scottie was a dancing fool, a trickster, and a very loveable down syndrome productive citizen.  At the age of 62, on January 18th, 2024, his shining light went out.

He loved everybody and everybody loved him.  He loved his family, and he was the glue that held our family together.  If you knew Scottie, you knew love.  He may have had the mind of a child and some saw this as a disability, those who knew him saw this as a shining ability to make everyone happy.  He was a true Peter Pan.

The family will have a small remembrance gathering later.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Burnett Hoover, his father, Orville Charles Hoover, Jr., his brother, Orville Charles Hoover, III (Trey), his aunt Margarite Jordan and cousin Jordan Stricker.

He is survived by his sister, Jan Hoover Johnson, Julie Hoover Hunt and husband Ricky Hunt, niece Abby McColl Johnson, nephew Matthew Pritchard Johnson and wife Mackenzie Diehl-Johnson, and daughter Kyleigh, nephew Orville Charles Hoover, IV (Chip) and wife Lisa cousins Mary Ellen O’Hara Kluska and husband John Kluska, Tommy Jordan and wife Pat Jordan, Timmy Jordan, Sally Jordan Stricker and husband John Stricker, Mike Jordan and wife Connie Jordan and Donna Kennedy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Christian Church https://www.fccsav.org/ and Junior League of Savannah https://www.jrleaguesav.org/.
